EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are provided to refugees to gain the language skills necessary to become self-sufficient in the United States. Classes are located in neighborhoods throughout Tarrant County and at our main campus. Specialized ESL classes are available in literacy and citizenship preparation.

Service Criteria for ESL and Orientation Classes:

  • Must have documentation verifying refugee, asylee or victim of trafficking status.
  • Must be within 5 years from the date of arrival. Priority is given to newer arrivals, which is those who have been in the U.S. for less than one year.
  • Must be age 16 years or older and not enrolled in public school.

Service Criteria for Citizenship Classes:

  • Must have documentation verifying refugee, asylee or victim of trafficking status.
  • Must have an intermediate level of English mastery as determined at enrollment.
  • Must have been in the U.S. for longer than 4 years and 9 months from the date of arrival.
  • Must be age 16 years or older and not enrolled in public school.
