400 dining room tables and sofas
     800 chairs
We will also need:

Computer, Data Entry, or IT skills
If you have some experience inputting data entry, Catholic Charities could use your help. We have a new data system and we have to input information to bring files up to date with our current system. We need several volunteers to assist our IT department. Schedules are flexible.
Catholic Charities will also have a new computer lab for client use. Clients will be able to look for jobs, fill out job applications, and create resumes and more. We are recruiting volunteers to work in the computer lab to assist clients. Volunteers will be needed from 1pm to 5pm Monday thru Friday. We need to have volunteers in place by April 1st.
Volunteer Opportunities with Programs
Read to children at the Assessment Center
The Assessment Center is the only shelter in Tarrant County for abused and/or neglected children, ages infant to 13 years. The children come to the Assessment Center through Child Protective Services. To volunteer your time to read to these children is a rewarding service and inspiring for the children. Please telephone to coordinate the day and time. Evenings are also available.
Organize an activity for the elderly and disabled
CASA in Fort Worth and Nuestro Hogar in Arlington are safe and affordable housing for our elderly and disabled clients. Organize and provide an activity for these ladies and gentlemen such as bingo, small holiday parties, book clubs, and other various activities. These clients benefit significantly from outside activity.
Assist ESL teacher in teaching refugees and immigrants English
With possibly 30 students from approximately six different countries in classes, volunteers willing to assist in teaching English are always needed. Students are at varying levels, but all are excited to be here and eager to learn. Training is provided for all volunteers prior to volunteering.
Clerical duties
Help is needed at all the Catholic Charities office sites including Fort Worth, Bedford and Arlington. Duties where help is needed vary by location.
Organize drives for specific needs
Catholic Charities often becomes in need of specific items, such as diapers, deodorant, tooth brushes, and other basic needs. Drives are an excellent way to volunteer and make significant change in the lives of others. Volunteer groups may also sign up to be called on during times of emergency or disaster response.
Help set up an apartment for refugee families
Refugees flee to our country for safety. Upon their arrival, they have nothing with them to begin a new life. Volunteers are needed to begin the resettlement process, including but not limited to things such as kitchen set up, teaching basic life skills, budgeting education and various other tasks that are new to our refugees. It is recommended that a group, small or large, take on this project. Donations of household items are always welcome for this program.
Serve as a mentor to children, women and men
Volunteers serving as mentors would be working with the CARE program, which is a child abuse and neglect prevention program. Mentors help guide families in need with various issues that have been identified, as well as help children meet their academic potential.
Provide childcare while refugee parents are in classes
Volunteers serving in this capacity would oversee children of refugees while parents attend various classes at Catholic Charities. A safe area with toys and books is used while in childcare.
